Hi New Boy Here,

Sorry this has more than likely been an exhausted conversation.

I am about to take delivery of a Red Sea Reefer 425xl on Friday and i'm thinking of having a Ceramic Aqua Scape made.
What are you thoughts good bad, would I need rock in the sump if not in the tank or would the Ceramic scape be a good enough filter and body for bacteria to colonise.

Thanks

Nick

If you follow the link in my signature that was my tank and had only ceramic rock, there was no calcium carbonate in the tank with the exception of the corals themselves.

IDK but if its porous it should be fine, but I'm old school, and I would go with a nice porous live rock.

Wow fantastic read and a beautiful tank, I just needed to see the results and this is the evidence I was looking for.
It was going to cost about £520 for the reef rock id been looking at, then strolled across someone in here the UK who makes the scape from your vision out of ceramic and for my tank is going to cost £445.
It not something iv ever used, back in the day you could only buy live rock so that's all I know really.
Thanks again for sharing

good morning.

im currently looking at the same company and have the same concerns regarding the capability of the ceramic scape to perform the same way as conventional dry or live rock.

is there any update on this thread or can anyone else chime in with some info to help put my mind at rest.

As i posted above this tank was up for years. In fact after I got sick and sold it I saw the centerpiece still being used locally just this year.

I was also using it when I won the acro growout here but those threads are gone now.
