Is a CO2 scrubber worth it for me?

Just forget it.
I tested mine with 4 different tests and a probe, 5 different answers. 7.9 to 8.3.
7.8 on the low end is fine, and I believe you said 8? Maybe it’s actually 8.1 or 8.2.
Save your money...corals grow fastest when chemistry is stable, not just on bullseye.

That's interesting only because I was concerned about the same thing, or more so my Apex's probe having drifted, so I picked up a set of calibration fluid and it was right on the money for what the fluid should be. I don't think that PH within reason makes or breaks a tank. However, it seems like stable and slightly elevated PH do improve coral growth. I can see an increase in ALK consumption when my PH is at higher levels.

I run recirculating on my CO2 scrubber and windows open still makes a difference. I get about 3 weeks out the media with the windows open and recirculating while I got 11 days on my last media w/ with windows closed. I also run a calcium reactor which exhausts the CO2 media faster. I am going to try and get the media from a welding supply shop, I hear a 5 gallon bucket goes for about a $100. Also for the recirculating scrubber I used a part of of an extra skimmer to try and trap the excess moisture out of the air to keep the CO2 media from getting too much moisture. Seems to help a lot and I have to empty the water out of the collector and the media container every 4-6 days (see pic). I have my skimmer cup empty into another container so not concerned about over flow but I do have a failsafe programmed to turn skimmer off at 8.4.
