Is a macro algae reactor like a refugium?

Hey now. Is a macro algae reactor like a refugium? I don’t have room for a refugium in my sump, so I wonder if this will help get rid of micro algae

They are basically the same thing except the reactor takes up less space.

If you have a big enough return chamber can you place it there?

I would not place it in return chamber unless you put in some sort of rigid mesh to keep the algae away from the return pump.
