If you dial it back you would be fine, or if you ever upgrade to something a little bigger you’ll already have a stronger light. If you don’t plan on moving this to a bigger tank a 50 would save you some money.
I run two 50s on my 36x18x20 tank and it does well.

Yeah this is a brand new tank so I don’t plan to upgrade anytime soon. The guy at the store told me I would only be able to keep softies with the 50:/
