About 2 months ago I purchased piece of acro and came to find my lighting wasnt strong enough. I have since upgraded and have fixed lighting. During that time this piece of acro day by day was dying to the point it turned white, "bleached". I would like some opinions if this acro is coming back to me or if its just just some type of algae that's growing on it. Here, I have what its supposed to look like and what its current state is. Thanks for opinions left, as I am learning this new trade.

I have had acros come back after bleaching out... I'd give it some time and see where it goes..the key to it all is stability. Wait to see if it recovers before making any other changes

As long as you can see polyps on your acro than there is still a chance for it to come back.

Are you meaning the one that come out the tips? Bc if so I haven't seen those in 2 months. Like I said this particular piece has completely turned white and I read to not give up so early so kept it as I upgraded lights. Now its appearing to have color coming back. Dont have much knowledge but a hardcore reader and researcher about things, and not afraid to ask questions

Yes, the fuzzy hairy polyps at all the tips. Looking at the color in the coral, it does not appear all white. I still believe there is a chance for it to come back.

The brown gray stuff at the bottom is dead coral skeleton with algae on it. But the top part has a pinkish hue, looks like there's still tissue there. When you look straight at the tips into the hole, do you see a maze-like structure in there? Or does the hole just end and appear roundish?

It is round and appears to end. I haven't seen the polyps come out for about 2 months. Everyone when I say it was ALL white it was completely white. The color change in past 4 weeks or so has really been significant. I think it may be coming back to me just didnt know if there usually is a color that acro changes to before crumbling away or completely dying. Thanks for all the opinions and advice. I gain info everyday on how your assessing thing and what to look for.

Seems like it is just bleached and retracted then. Since you don't see the skeleton maze below where the polyps should be, that means they are still there, just not particularly happy.

And a bit of color seems to be back yeah, I think it can pull through :) good luck
