Is Alk to erratic?

Here are my last 3 alkalinity test results, test with Hanna checker:

12/31-9.07
1/1-8.96
1/3-9.18 after dosing 10ml B-Ionic alkalinity.

Seems a rather sharp jump (0.22) with a dose of 10ml alk solution.
My goal is to maintain the system at 8.5dkh so I will gradually allow the alk to fall again, then try a dose of 5ml of B-Ionic. And my purpose of dosing today was to slow down the drop in alk that is represented in the first 2 test results, should I have just left it alone?

0.22 dKH is not too much of a rise.
