Is an MJ 1200 a large enough pump for...?

...an EV-180 Skimmer? For some reason I have burned through two Mag 7 pumps on my skimmer in a matter of a year. I have never had problems with MJ 1200s, in fact I am using one as my return pump. Is this sufficient flow for my skimmer?

Nope you are looking at like half the flow.

The recommend a mag 7(700gph) or a rio 3100(900gph)

You can try a QO 3000, it's rated at 780gph and is only like $45.

A small word about pumps, you get what you pay for. I know some pumps can be cheap to buy, but also for the most part suck alot of juice.

A Eheim, Iwaki or Red Dragon might be alot upfront but will consume less power and produce less heat.... which will also save on running your chiller.
