Hi guys, I was just wondering if anyone has seen the new Maxspect Razor led light fixture that is scheduled to come out soon an is considering this light for their system. I would be very interested in knowing if this system would work well on a 46g 22" cube or if I would be better off going with something else or even a DIY system. I am just interested in going with something that will not break the bank but will still be aesthetically pleasing as the tank is rimless and in the middle of my family room so I do not want an eye sore.

Thanks for the info.

I'm gonna keep an eye on this. I'm with you, I'm planning and purchasing on my next build, and the LEDs are the one thing I cannot decide in. I like the aesthetics of the razor though.

My new Razors are on their way now. Dims of the tank are 60" long, 24" wide and 24" deep. I will post picts when they get here....they were shipped Friday.

Sad bit of information. I just found out that the lights are not individually controllable but rather it is only a 2 channel that each channel controls 1 entire light panel so no dawn/dusk effect.

if i read it right each cannel has 6 time settings so yes you can get a dawn dusk effect. i am really watching this fixture closely myself.

Having only two channels really turned me off in the razor especially when the vega has 20 channels. I am debating getting the vega or buying the mazerra P for my zoanthid tank

I've seen the light in action. My LFS has a demo. And one of my biggest fears was the heat produced, without a constant active cooling feature. I am in this store all the time and can say that this light is very hot to the touch. I have yet to see the fan in operation. It's supposed to be temp controlled. That scares me.

having only 2 channels really turned me off as well. That being said, I was not thrilled that the vega only had white blue deep blue I think very deep blue and only a choice of 1 red and 1 green led in their color version. They do have the choice to adc uv along with more red and green but at an added expense

The Maxspect Razor has 2 preset modes that will give you the dawn to dusk effect. The Razor also has a automatic mode so users can program their own photo period.

The R420r is primarily passively cooled, but has fans pre-installed with temperature controlled. When temperature raises above a designated value (around 120F), the fan will be engaged. This is particularly useful for customers who like to mount their fixtures inside canopy with limited air ventilation.
