Hello. I have a Kessil ap700 and would like to add a reefbrite xho actinic combo. I’m wondering if anyone runs reefbrite with any other light or specifically with an ap700 who can give some feedback?

curious to know if you’re able to dim the lights without having to purchase a separate controller and if they truly do add a great pop to the corals.

thanks for any help!

I am running a reefbrite xho actinic in addition to a Kessil AP9X. You cannot dim them without an add on. I run it full brightness in front of my AP9X and it does add a fair bit of pop plus fills in a lot. I am running a 24" on a 36" 75G tank, about 6" above and pointing back at about a 30 degree angle to illuminate the front of my reef. I do have to turn my Kessil down a fair bit, I think it's running at 20%. I do like it though.

nice! thank you. might just set it on a wifi plug that way it’s on for x amount of hours instead. i’m not sure if i should pull the trigger though.. they’d go on my cube that is 23.5” wide by 15” deep so i’m thinking it’s overkill unfortunately.. acros do get some shading as well which is the main problem

I have some Blue XHOs, but only to pop some corals for when people want to see them that way. I don't know if they would be great for full-time shadow reduction since they are just blue and do not have a ton of PAR. There are likely better LED strips with lenses and more spectrum for this... or even some T5s. They are great if you want that black-light pop.

I turn them off except for when people want to view since I don't need them to grow or color coral so I save the hours and electricity.

I added Reef Brite XHO's to go with my CoralCare gen 2 fixtures on both my tanks.
I just like the look.

Hello

i found this info interesting.

I have a 160 x 75 x 55 cm tank with 3 gen2 Coralcare fixtures. I love the light, but miss some pop effect and have looked at the addon ledstrips from Reefbrite.

Can you tell us a little bit more about your experience, and if possible show a picture?

My thoughts are if it is enough with only one Reefbrite set on the mid-placed lamp, or if the effect will be best with one reefbrite for each each gen2 lamp.

As I stated I have the CoralCare gen 2 fixtures on both my tanks. They are great light fixtures. I would compare them to T5's. But I missed the blue led pop that I got from using Radions for years.
How many and what length you use is up to you and your preference.
I don't have any pictures, and doubt I could duplicate what it looks like in real life.

I run 4 with my ati fixture. Colors pop really well. Pretty decent par they put out under 20 inches from the light bar. Probably would pair extremely well with the kessils.

I opted out on dimming them. Seems pretty pointless to me.

Maybe I did misunderstand. I thought you had the combination of CoralCare Gen2 with these ReefBrite addon leds:

I have already 3 ea Gen2 lamps, but think if I should supplement with one, two or three ReerBrites as linked to.

I do have Reef Brite XHO blue led strips with my CoralCare gen 2 fixtures. I have a pair of 48" XHO's mounted to a pair of CoralCare gen 2 fixtures on my 72" x 30" x 25" softy tank. I also have a pair of 24" XHO's mounted on a single CoralCare gen 2 fixture on my 32" x 24" x 20" lps tank.
I made my own mounts for pretty much all my lighting out of 3/4" x 3/4" angle iron, and aluminum angle and flat stock.
Instead of those expensive add-on mounts, I made my own.

I use them with with 2 kessil 360x and ap9xon a 48” frag tank. I dim them to creat a sun up and sun down affect at the beginning of my light schedule and at the end that way I can enjoy the color pop
