Is bleaching everything and starting over my only option?

I would highly recommend hydrogen peroxide as it's a starting tank with no livestock that it could harm. H202 destroys algaes faster than any other treatment and seemed easier on my SPS than when I tried to raise magnesium for an extended period of time (didn't really work).

I also agree with this

Ok. So I have a friend who had the bryopsis immune to tech m. He bleached. I think it's not just you best option but your only option.
As I mentioned above you, why not dose hydrogen peroxide? It's been highly documented on multiple forums to not mess with parameters at the amount dosing requires and it attacks all forms of algae. When comparing bleaching and H2O2 it seems like H2O2 should win hands down as it will attack all of it, while you may miss a spot with bleaching.

@EpicWin Sorry, thought you had read it all and just glazed over my post. No edit option so I'll formally recant it here.

I am interested in trying the H202 dosing. Anyone know a good guid or at least have info on how much per gallon I should dose?

I assume this will kill my cheato right? Small price to pay if it actually works.

Just don't start with more than 10mL/10Gallons per a day and it should start to die off in 3 days.

Looks like the common amount people dose is 1ml per 10gal. I'll try that and then up it if I need to. There isnt much in the tank that I am worried about killing aside from 3 hermits and some snails.

I think I am going to give this everything I got for this last ditch attempt before breaking it down and bleaching everything.

Gonna go lights out, keep Mg high (1800ish), dose Peroxide, keep up with manual removal, and continually test the PO4 and NO3 levels. If the rocks are indeed leaching PO4 then I will see an increase when the algae starts to die (which it hopefully will). Gonna start running GFO and Carbon as soon as the pump gets here as well.

Good luck. It's kinda hard to predict if your PO4 levels will go up as a good number of users on a different forum were using the Hanna PO4 checker and it showed very low before they dosed hydrogen peroxide and after their bryopsis dead off. It's kinda fun to turn off the flow of the tank and inject the H2O2 right into the patches and watch them bubble.
