Okay, so before we start:
My ricordeas were bought as regular mushrooms and wouldn’t bounce or anything. I have them high up in my “new” tank (2 years old) and under a similar PAR as the ones in my nano. My Red Sea Max Nano rics come from the same mother colony as my 4’ tank’s ones do. But they aren’t bounced. The only difference is the flow. In my 4’ tank the flow is varied and hits directly towards the shrooms, in my nano they flow is rebounded and didn’t hit them much. I have changed the flow to rebound directly into them. I wasn’t sure which area to put this in, experiment or corallimorphia. I figured this side would be better due to it not being a total experiment and more of a comparison. Any input from you guys will be great, and if you think this may belong in the experiments forum then I’ll probably do a second post in there and update that one. I hope this comparison can come to a conclusion of if flow is also a reason why a mushroom may “bounce”. I’ll also try put a green Rhodactis in my 4’ tank when the one in my nano spread and see what difference it has.
Here’s the Nano’s colony:

I have had what started out as a couple of green richordia mushrooms for about 10 years now. About 7 years back before bounce mushrooms got big I had noticed the bubbles appearing on some of the shrooms. The flow is the only thing that had altered in that time, now I have about 50 shrooms with about half bouncing. Interesting side note, my clown has always hosted my shrooms and every now and then I catch her sucking, not biting, on some of the bubbles, anyone else have fish that do this?

Here is the same mother colony recently if anyone’s interested;

Some have moved around the tank and even then, they’ve kept their bubbles and one is in much lower light yet still a decent Level of flow.

Here is one of my colonies, they get monstrous bubbles
