Is carbon a sps killer ??? Did I mess up again??

Low nutrients meaning zero nitrates and phosphates and super clear water from the carbon will cause the corals to bleach, they will be pale to begin with bc of the low nutrients then the "sunburn" from the lights bc the water is clearer could be a recipe for disaster.

I also run carbon. Though, I usually run a lower amount than recommended. My phosphates and nitrates are very low BUT, I feed my tank every other day, or every 3rd day to make sure they're getting nutrients

As above somewhat stated I seriously doubt nutrient deficiency would happen that rapidly. If you have macro algae and never used carbon, you water will typically have a definite green tint to it. Carbon can rapidly strip that out clarifying the water and causing corals to bleach. Bleaching happens quickly, nutrient starvation doesn’t, and unless youR tank has a super small bio load and a monster skimmer I very seriously doubt that’s the case.

Good point . That’s a possibility too.I have used poly filter once a month but no carbon since tank has been up and going last December .
I was and am still worried when my coral lost color though. my phosphates and nitrates were at 0 before I added carbon . I also had a large clump of cheato in fuge which my fuge light runs at night for 10 hrs .i removed half of it earlier . I will be feeding more as well to get my levels greater than 0.
Hopefully my injured coral will make it.

One thing I just noticed about my tank this morning when I checked it out. Was my temp on my true temp 500 watt heater and it was at 80 degrees at 6:30am. I went in to ride my exercise bike for 30 minutes or so and come back and noticed my temp was 78.6 ? Seeing this I threw in a digital thermometer and it was correct on temp? Could this be an issue? This is first heater I’ve had that had digital display?

I can't speak for the 1.4 degree swing in such a short time, but what size tank do you have with a 500w heater?

I thought that was quite a quick swing in temp. It’s about a 100 gallon system
