I have a quarantine tank setup with copper levels of 2.0. I was wondering if it safe for me to be putting my hands in the tank to clean and rearrange things. Is there a potential danger of me absorbing copper through my skin?

Yes you can and bring the level up to 2.5 for proper therapuetic level and monitor with a reliable copper test kit such as Hanna brand

I thought therapeutic levels were from 1.5 minimum to 2.5 maximum that's why I stayed midrange at 2.0. Should I increase to max?

Which copper are you using ?

recommended dosages:
Ionic copper needs to be at least 0.18

Cupramine needs to be at least 0.50

Coppersafe needs to be at 2.5

I've never heard of an issue with it and skin. However, gloves are always ideal in any animal related scenario.

Depends on what you are trying to treat. Here's a great guide by Jay

Ok, just increased it from 2.0 to 2.5. In the future how much do you guys start up with and ramp it up to 2.5. Or do you start at that level from day one?
You don’t want to ramp up too long, generally within 12 hrs

I'm treating as a precautionary measure before adding fish to display tank. This is the first time that I started doing this. Last time around I had a beautiful fully stocked tank and decided to get a pair of clownfish as my last addition. They died within 2 days and wiped half my fish in a few weeks. So moving forward I will be treating every fish like there if they were sick.

30 days in copper and 2 weeks in Prazipro or General Cure should work in most cases.

Or you can buy from vendors that does the full QT for you. You'll pay more , but it is will worth imo.
