Is dosing vit c the same as dosing vodka?

yes and no.. it is a carbon source and has a similar end result but it's not necessarily the same as vodka.. I think it feeds a different strain of bacteria, and some claim there is some kind of magic that the VC performs on coral and fish which I've not noticed in months of off and on use. if you're already dosing vodka I'd probably just continue with that and skip the VC..

VC did nothing for me. Both of the other hand vodka has been working wonders. My tank which has been up and running for over a year and a half has never looked better.

VC will act as a carbon source, but I don't think it acts as aggressively as vodka/vinegar.. it'll definitely ramp up bacteria populations and make some raunchy skimmer collection.. it'll also lower N&P over time just like vodka/vinegar..

I personally doubt all of the hype about the VC though (I also noticed none of the reported benefits, other than as a carbon source), and I'll likely start vodka dosing at some point just because it's easier..

My birds of paradise would close up and i wouldn't see any polyps for days. With the vodka all my sps are open with great polyp extension all the time. Firm believer now in vodka dosing and will probably not stop at this point
