Is elegance coral dead?

Got this about three weeks ago. is hasn't been doing well and not opening fully up. Anything I could do to turn him around or is he a goner.

Actually does’t look bad. Not happy, but miles from dead.

How much flow and light is hitting it? Does it react at all to feeding?

yes not happy at all. Possibly too much light or flow. More it to a lower light and med/low flow enough to just move its tentacles a little

Yeah these guys really need super low flow, almost stagnant. And lower lighting. It's really hard to keep one and branch out and have other LPS bc they are sooooo demanding on low parameters

It definitely needs to be sheltered from any flow by a huge rock blocking any water movement

They are super duper delicate with any flow

Welcome to R2R Keith .. if you can post a complete list of parameters and tank info such as age, lighting etc.. it will help people to give you some useful advice.

ok thank you. I will move him to the sandbed under self where he is shaded... I have other LPs and they are doing well. I'll post tank exact parameters tomorrow but I know they are all within acceptable ranges. my DT is 180 gallon with 40 gallon sump.. as of now using Chinese black box LEDs but will soon upgrade

currently maybe 3 inch from sandbed... not sure the par rating other lps is happy at same lightening and even higher levels in the tank. and when spot feed he appears to have some reaction but not much

Elegance corals really dislike being on or next to rocks as well. In the sandbed with room for the polyp and tentacles to expand without touching rocks is a good approach.
