I'm gradually eliminating some less desirable stuff from my system, and my big (12" x 8") GSP island is next on the chopping block.
The last big removal I made was a monster 10" tall xenia colony, which is known to suck up nutrients. Once it was gone, I ended up with a gradual increase of nitrate and phosphate that I'm getting under control by extending my refugium lighting period.
Is GSP as much of a nutrient sink as the xenia? Am I in for another bump?
