Hi all...I'm fairly new to the beautiful world of corals. I've had a coral reef tank for about six months. Upon starting my reef tank I came across a man who was selling corals and live rock at amazing prices. I was able to get cabbage coral, toadstool coral, polyps, candy coral, a kenya tree coral. But he also threw in for free a small coral that he never told me what it was. It looked at first like two small polyps that were starting to grow on an old brain "fossil" as I dont know what else to call it. However, now I'm wondering if its actually a brain regrowing. I can't seem to locate it online so I'm posting a pic here. Any ideas would be great. Thank you!!!!!

It only seems to be two colors. Other favias I've seen seem to have multiple colors. Especially the dragon soul. Like I've said, I've had this fur almost six months and this really hasn't grown. I'm nit sure if I'm doing something wrong. I just upgraded my tank and its placed lower in the tank with very minimal water flow and low to medium light

Yes,it's a dragon soul fave. that every thing but 2 heads died.

Ok thank you...now my next question...is my placement proper for it to flourish again. I have kept it alive but I want it to flourish

+1 on dragon soul favia.

The best thing you can do is keep it in stable conditions and feed it. Also, it will grow faster if you cut away and smooth out as much of the old skeleton as you can.

You can always use pliers to break off the spikes on the dead skeleton. They have a hard time growing over old skeleton like that.
