So after going through a almost complete tank wipeout I’ve wondered if any of my softies would come back. The finger leather, toadstool, and several zoas are gone no luck. But I have a few zoas that have stared opening again and my cabbage looks horrible but still has color and in one piece. By the pictures what do you guys think about the cabbage will it come back or is it dead? Do you think rest of the closed zoas will come back?

IME, softies aren’t dead until they’ve melted away into goop. I’ve had zoas close for 2+ months that ended up reopening and now they’re back to full health, I bought a Craigslist tank that included a toadstool that had absolutely zero polyps and looked like a shoe for the first month. It slimed everywhere and was super gross, but now it’s gorgeous and even produced a baby 8 months later. Softies arent dead till they’re gone, yours look okay except for that first cabbage leather which looks like it may be necrotic and melting

Water quality and maintenance will keep these guys in the right direction

Would consider cutting away all the dead flesh on the cabbage. The Zoa’s will bounce back.
Agreed, a razor or scalpel should get the job done easily. You said the tank crashed, have you identified and fixed the issue? If you did, I wouldn’t worry too much about the zoas they still look pretty good especially the fruit loops

Yeah unfortunately after moving everything out of the tank for awhile and fixing the issue. I switched sumps to a 40 breeder using Fiji sump kit. The mistake was I used GE 100% silicone but didn’t know there was a difference between #1 and #2. I used #2 which has a mold inhibitors in it which is poisonous to everything in an aquarium and within 12 hours I lost a lot. So I will try to trim around the cabbage how much do you think? Just the dead looking white on the sides?

Anything black needs to go. I would cut anything not the normal green color off
