Is it necessary to cycle dry rock?

I have about 80 pounds of dry rock, half caribsea purple rock and half marco rock from BRS, do I need to cycle it before i put it in my tank or no? I've read mixed things.

It depends, do you already have an established tank with inhabitants or are you adding this to a brand new setup?

If you are adding the rock to a established tank then you don’t need to cycle it. But if you are adding it to a new tank then cycle it along with the tank.
