Is it normal for FedEx overnight tracking not to be updated?

I'm expecting about $600 worth of corals from World Wide Corals today. I checked the tracking number this morning and it said it arrived in Memphis at 11:47PM. There has been no update to the tracking since. Well I live in northern Illinois, so if that is accurate I don't see how they are going to get the package to me by 10:30am this morning?

It has happened to me before. I received my package and tracking shows that it hasn't even been picked up yet o_O
Hopefully they make it to you in time :)

It's not usual for there to be a delay in tracking. From what I can tell they only track when it's at a location, not in transit, so if your corals are on the plane right now it'll still say the last place they were. I hope that makes sense.

Yea that's what I am hoping! I have the package set to be held at my local FedEx office. I was really hoping that I'd be able to even get it picked up before heading in to work. Guess that's not happening. Now I just hope I can get it after work.

The package gets scanned at different locations. Depending on the next process it might not get scanned until lets say "out for delivery" when it actually is put on the truck. Since yours is "hold for pickup" I would call your local office.

Hey not to scare you off. But its holiday season and you know what that means. I was supposed to receive a box from Adam at Battlecoral. It was supposed to be here on Wednesday and it was not a overnight shipment but it took 2 extra days and I just received my box. I also opted for hold for pickup. So, I will possibly give their customer service a call ASAP and hope for the best.

I was expecting a package yesterday ( from Penn. to WA. )and I got up early to check the progress and it looked like it was still back east at a time it should have been arriving in Seattle.
So I called them and found out there was a weather delay and a mechanical delay.
So I got through to a rep and told them it was a live coral shipment and it needed to be delivered.
I saw a couple hours later it arrived in Seattle, but several hours late.
I called again to tell them that it needed to be delivered. This time I was transferred to a supervisor and I emphasized the need to get it delivered.
I checked a couple hours. No progress, so I called again.

I don't know if any of my calls made a difference but it finally made it from the airport to my local fedex facility where I picked it up.

Sounds better than "Package arrived at Albuquerque." I've had that scenario happen and late it was in arrival.
Luckily it wasn't coral or anything alive, but I had a package coming to me from california. It went from california to tennessee back to colorado then to illinois and then to me in wisconsin.

Hard goods only for me from Thanksgiving till end of February.

And then I will check the weather as well from where it’s leaving to my place

It sometimes seems like their logistics folks are tennis fans.

I'm currently on hold with fedex. My battlebox was supposed to be here an hour ago. The first person I talked to assured me that the package was on the truck and would be delivered by 7:30, lol. I told them it is a live animal and was supposed to be here by 10:30. They placed me on hold and connected me with another person who also assured me that I would get the package by the end of the day. I again explain the whole live animal thing and the supposed 10:30 delivery time at which point they put me on hold again. I've been on this call for 22min now.

One of the last Fed Ex shipments I received overnight didn't arrive until 8:30 at night and this was during the summer, not a busy holiday season. Fed Ex express in my area usually swings by around 4pm.

I've shipped live fish eggs overnight to Virginia, checking the first business morning option, sometimes it was morning, sometimes it was afternoon.

I never get my deliveries by the promised times. I had to go pick one up that was on the truck and never got delivered. This one got here at noon on the dot. Corals look great. Sometimes I feel like if you don’t call them up and let them know you are waiting they’ll just show up when they feel like it, if at all.

My fed ex driver and my ups driver have my phone number. If im expecting something I flag them down the day before to let them know. They can call me if they get swamped and cant get to me early. I will meet them on their route. Oh and they get cold sodas in the summer, esp if its salt being delivered. A big bottle of champagne for xmas. Dont seem to have issues.

I can't speak for Fedex, but I work for a similar business. Anything can happen and even when it says out for delivery doesn't actually always mean its out... At least where I'm at people have scanned them early for numbers sake. I'm not saying that is the norm or even common but I've certainly seen it more than I'd like to admit. Sometimes all we can do is hope for the best when it comes to shipping living things sadly. Hope you got everything happy and healthy!
