Is it Overkill

If you have them to use go for it I have 4 hydra's an 1 hydra 52 over a 48" 150 tank

With your 3 fixtures with the pucks of each fixture oriented from front to back (assuming these are XR30s), you'll have some very nice coverage and shadow reduction for an SPS dominant tank.

I have 2x WR30 G.3 Pro's and 1x XR15 G.3 Pro's on my 36' tank. I run the wide angle lenses on mine. The shadowing is greatly diminished with 3 fixtures. Be sure to watch your intensities;), I learned the hard way, burnt up a few corals until I figured in my sweet spot.

Any T5 supplementation, care to PM me a pic of your graph and sliders?

I have 3x 30 pros w/wide angle lenses on a 90 gal. Not overkill at all IMO. It is a longer tank at 58". I would imagine 70 gal at 36" your tank must be deeper and wider than mine.

No T5 supplemental. Here are my graphs, one is for the XR30s and the other is for the XR15. They're also saved in Fusion under the schemes:

I don't think 3 xr30's is overkill I'm running 2 xr15 pros with wide angle lenses and a 4 bulb retro over my 80 shallow. Just got a xr30 to add to the middle of the 15's cuz I felt I needed a little more light then what I had

That's the thing, although I do like LED lights, in order to get proper coverage and shadow reduction, we need more fixtures then manufacturers lead us to believe with their marketing hype.

Agreed, and I don't really need the 3rd Radion just have an opportunity for a great deal, but I also feel that with the reduction in power consumption and the cost savings associated with that, along with lack of bulb replacement it all evens out in the end ;-)

Interesting graphs. Do you have any problems with algae? I only ask cause I see you have them starting at 7am and ending at 11pm. Just seems like a long light cycle. Also could you upload the radion light schedule? I like playing around testing different schedules to see how they work for my growth. I am currently running stock sps ab configuration on my single xr30 g3 pro on my 60 cube.
Sorry if I'm hijacking the thread here. Just felt it was kind of related ;)

If it helps to further someone else's success in reef keeping then I have no problem with the hijack.

Yes, the photoperiod is longer but at very low intensity, mostly blues and UV in the early am and pm. The graph is the only one I know how to post. You can look it up on Fusion with the names I gave you. I've always had algae on some sort issues:(

Salty1962 Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I do not have a Apex unit so I couldn't seem to find it in a ecotech format so I modified it a bit myself. Went with the longer time and made points to be just uv and royal blue before the normal ab+ schedule would kick in with the uv,rb,blue cycle.

Deaclauderdale, I don't think I would go for 3 xr30 over a 36" tank just seems like overkill but if the deal is super then I'd use it for a frag.
I have a 24x24x24 tank and I have been debating 2 units to stop the shadowing but I think I will go retro t5 instead and building a new hanging or open to canopy. I believe t5 and led is a great combination. Also what WWC is also doing for their grow out tanks.
