I’ve read that it’s possible to mostly eliminate aptasia with peppermint shrimp and Berghia but that there is always a bit left that comes back. Are there any permanent removal mechanisms or is it like reef herpies, containment but no cure.

Berghias do an excellent job but they always come back.

I use aptaisa x when I see them worth the few bucks

Do they just come back in a few months? Or is there a multi step treatment that can wipe em out if done correctly

If done correctly you can get rid of all the ones you can see with aptaisa x in a few mins it’s easy

I just took care of a few big ones about 20 minutes ago.

31 gauge 6mm 1cc insulin syringe
Injected those suckers with lemon juice, they shriveled right up. I also tried just injecting air into them, it seemed to work too.

If anyone tries this I’d go with a longer needle, 8 or 12mm would be better, and inject into the stalk of the enemy.

I used berghias and they did an awesome job. It’s been about 2 years and I haven’t seen an aptasia since, so it is possible.

I have Copperband butterflies in both my displays. Not an Aptasia to be found..
Now in the sump... That's another story...
