I am bored at work.. and what do I do when I am bored at work? I plan, research and think too much.

my 9g cube.. has a small stock internal filter which I add filter floss and small stocking of ROX carbon.
I am debating on getting an Aquaclear 70 HOB Filter to add chaetos and carbon, possibly my heater.

Would adding the HOB and removing the internal filter make a dramatic difference enough to justify cost and work? (I'd have to make a new lid and figure out where to move my light as its on the back of the tank).

It would increase your system volume for sure and get some equipment out of the display area which may make it look a little better. Just be aware that the pump on the 70 can move some water so you may want to tone it down some with the intake pipe adjustment range.

I am aiming to have this an SPS tank, so extra water movement would help. if its too much, changing the propeller is a smart idea
In that case I would definitely add it for use as a HOB fuge at least :)

I , uh, modded the Aq with a tiny $3 12v pump. Wrapped the Aq with led and it works great.

As far as a need , I don’t know.

As far as sps go, look for brandon429 pico bowl. It’ll change your mind about stuff.

Cost benifit ? Dunno. Could be fun.
A cheap small desktop reactor could be cool and a smaller footprint. It could actually sit next to the tank.

Do you have pictures of your 9g cube? What about a cheato reactor instead?
