Is it safe to stand inside the tank?

I’m building a wall track for my lighting to my in wall tank.

It would be much easier to stand inside the empty tank to do so.

Bottom is 3/4 glass, non tempered. Foam underneath.

I weigh 210 lb.

Is it safe to stand in it?

There was a video of a guy stacking like 100+lbs of liverock inside his 10 gallon aqueon tank.
Afterwards he took the rocks out and stepped inside. It supported his weight and he looked to be around 180-200lbs. Mind you.....a 10 gallon aqueon has like 1/4" glass at best lol.

Should be okay. I laid in my 200 gallon oceanic tank back in the nineties for a picture. No harm done.

If your not sure just lay a piece of plywood in the tank. That will spread your weight across more tank area.

The plywood is an excellent idea. That way you won't stress a small section of the glass if you shift all your weight to one foot working on the light rack.

I already did it. No plywood or anything. Stood on one foot a bunch of times.

It's all fun and games until the glass breaks loose and a shard of 3/4in glass cut a main artery deep into your leg and you bleed to death before the ambulance arrives......

Sorta like....I too can trim my hedges grabbing my lawnmower body casing by hand.

Lol, as you found out, no problem standing in the tank. Best to not wear shoes just to avoid pebbles and to spread your weight. That being said, if you weight 210 lbs, and you were able to stand on a single big toe, that would be about 210 psi. Since you probably stand using your whole foot, lets say each foot is 10 sq inches, that means you are putting about 10.05 psi on the glass. Nothing to worry about.

I did it a few times while scaping my tank. Wouldn't do it if I didnt know the stand had bars to spread the weight and avoid too much pressure in one point. A failing bottom.pannel with bare feet wouldn't be a nice experience. But again my bottom glass is 2 sheets of 19mm glass so guess it's just me being paranoid.
