Is it safe to upgrade my tank?

I currently have a 10g with two choco domino clowns, one hermit, and I just added a tailspot blenny today.

I was already going to upgrade my tank in the near future to a 20g, but the owner at my LFS encouraged me to upgrade since I was purchasing the blenny and asked if it would be safe enough bioload wise to also purchase a cleaner shrimp.

TL;DR I just added the blenny but I also have my new 20g sitting in my car and I want to know if I should wait for everyone to settle in for a week or move everything over tonight/tomorrow.

You should have set up the tank prior to the new additions to limit stress.
The 10 gallon is overstocked with those three fish so I would upgrade now. Cleaner shrimp don’t add much bioload

Welcome to reef2reef! Set up the new tank, transfer everything from the 10g, I guess put the new additions in the 10g for now even though it’s not ideal.

I know, I definitely should have thought about this yesterday when I first saw the blenny in the store, but I'm a dummy and just get too excited sometimes.

I did a water change yesterday evening so do y'all think if would be ok if I leave it over night before doing the upgrade or should I do it ASAP? I'll be using most of the same equipment since they are capable of handling a 20g.

It’s all good. It happens.
You will be good until tomorrow with them all in the 10g. Just put something over the top if it’s open, blennys jump.

I appreciate all the help and stress relief. I felt like a fool once I came home with the blenny. (I am still a fool, but at least now I've learned my lesson...)

Anytime! Most people have made similar “mistakes” their first year of reefing, don’t sweat it. Good thing it’s a tailspot to, they are pretty small. Make a build thread on here for your 20g! That would be sweet!

I picked out the smallest one they had and my clowns are still under 2" too.

I definitely plan to! I've been collecting pictures as I go along since I started. I plan on adding some zoas and whatever frags my friend has for me in a month or so.
