Hi guys, yesterday I went to my LFS and got a orange plate coral and a red firefish. And today I saw the firefish is dead and it's on my sixline wrasse mouth. I got the plate Coral for 10$ and firefish for 15$. Well I was just thinking is it still worth it cause I only paid 10$ on the plate coral.
What you guys opinions??

Well if I add up the two it would be 25$ and I know that orange plate corals go from50$-100$ so I think it's worth it because I only spend 25$.

Not sure how you would rate this. Monetarily it's definitely not as good a deal if the firefish died. I'm a bit lost though. Did the plate coral contribute to the firefish death? How are these two things related?

$10 for the plate is a good deal. $15 for the fish that died is $15 that's gone. You can be happy about the plate deal (which is a good thing) AND still realize that the death of the fish is a loss. or am I missing something?

A better way to seek validation about your plate coral purchase would have been to post pics and price of the plate coral in the LPS forum. The fish you killed doesn't figure into the equation so just leave it out. You are out $15, you are not making out pretty good just because the fish died. You would be doing better if both of the animals were still alive. As it is you killed half your purchases. Umm... Congrats?...?...

It sounds like this fish wasn't quarantined. I have implemented a QT tank in my routine and properly acclimate when transferring fish. My rate of fish loss has declined since I started.
