I have had my chicago for like 8 months and it’s gone from 2-3 inches to like 10-12 inches it’s absolutely massive.

I really want it to split and no not to sell or make money but just to have more Nems. I don’t want to cut it but I really want it to split.

Is it possible to force it nicely? I feed it mysis daily about 1/4 a cube and it’s insanely happy and fluffy and great color. It just won’t split!

Nothing foolproof. Change in water conditions/stress can trigger a split, but how much do you really want to mess with a happy nem?

That is the thing I do not want to stress it to split or do anything hard core, I just didnt know if feeding even heavier or something would help

Just keep feeding. My Chicago and Colorado's do the same thing, just grow and grow and grow. They eventually split once they reached dinner plate size.

Mine split from lighting changes. Anecdotal evidence at best though so take it fwiw.

Mine is probably about that size or bigger with the tentacles. I would say the oral disk is is about 7-8 inches min.

Would it be even more crazy to sell my chicago for just normal BTA so they actually take over my tank haha ?
I'll trade you

Some of them never split. The ones that you want to split seem to do it even less. I have 25-30 CSBs and only a few of them have ever split on their own.

Cutting it is quite safe and easy if they are large enough and you are not greedy. I have never lost one to a cut, but I also wait until they are 6-8 inches across.

I hope that’s not my case. I don’t want to try cutting them. If it doesn’t split in the next few months I may just sell it as it’s massive and try a normal cool BTA

I have an AI prime and my nem is right under it. It’s at like 130% at the peak. I feed the thing frozen mysis 1/2 cube almost daily. Nutrients are solid. It’s growing a ton just no split yet. I just want a tank full of Nems!!

Here is a bad pic of it with the lights turning on. It gets about double that during mid day
