I would like to get some opinions on SPS corals. Currently my tank is 8 months old. All I have is a protein skimmer and a refugium. Should I be investing in more equipment to control my nitrates, PH etc.

Investing in a good test kit, just to see where u at and go from there. Keeping sps is more complicated than it is. Try some easy sps first, like monti, digidata, birdsnest, pocillipora. ...
Good luck

You may have a lot of what you need for SPS. I would get a good test kit, Ca, Mg, Alk, P04, Nitrates. Salifert is a great test kit. I also agree with the above post. What type of lights do you have and how long are they on for?

I am using the Aquaticlife Light 72" T5 HO 8 Lamp 6 Lunar
(4) 36" T5 HO 39W 420/460 (2) 36" T5 HO 39W 10K (2) 36" T5 HO 39W Purple (4) 1W Lunar LED's

Theses lights are Pre-programmed to theses times

White lights start at 9:00 - End 17:00
Blue Lights start at 8:00 - End 20:00
Lunar Lights start at 20:00 - End 6:00

I had that same light and Like it a lot. Your blues are fin, IMO but I think I'd cut the white light back to around 6 hours a day and give it a month and see how your corals look. Remember it easier to kill a coral with to much light than to little.

Or u might consider hang the lights inside ur canopy, maybe 10-"12" off water and Waite a month, then slowly bring em down if u feel they need more light...that's what I'd do...
