Is it toxic? CORAL

Hello, my monti pora has some coral on it that look like zoathids. Which are toxic. Is this true or are they something else.

Not all zoas or all palys are toxic .
and those that are . There level of toxins can vary

I used to be nervous when I first heard about Zoas. You should always take precautions when handling (out of water) or fragging. It’s really nothing to be too concerned about. Kinda like don’t hold a metal rod above your head during a thunderstorm ….

know there are potential dangers if mistreated .
Always protect yourself and assume every colony is toxic .
1) wear gloves and eye protection when dragging .
2) never heat or boil rocks which could have small polyps

and the most important
3) use common sense to protect yourself .

Most of these precautions you should apply to all corals. I’m not saying a Acan will kill you if you accidentally put it in your mouth or if it slimes and you get it in you eye. However , you want to try to be cautious and try to treat all corals the same when moving (out of water) or fragging.

Again common sense .
Why would anyone try tasting a acan .
and if taking something from our tank that could possible squirt any liquid or gel like slime . I’d cover my eyes and keep my mouth closed

Perhaps saying “ yes that massive colony of zoas are highly toxic and should give them to me to monitor “ could possibly push the price of zoas down

There are other ways to siphon ..
I learned the hard way with skimmer sludge
