or is it just waste of money since some of the elements we cannot do anything about ?

any comments?

Very worthwhile, not only can it detect contamination at low level it also serves as a check against your testing.

For me I look at it as another tool to use. It can be very eye opening and interesting to see what is going on with your water parameters. If I were having major problems with my tank, running a Triton test would be one of the first things I would do. The down side is it takes two weeks to get the results. The $50.00 doesn't concern me when I think of how much I've invested (blown) to have one inch sticks in my tank.

Totally worth it! Hobby grade tests are only so accurate, and reagents oxidize and lead to mis information. Great way to keep those test honest. If you dose iodine, potassium, strontium, and any other trace elements. It will help you keep track of what you are doing and if you are dosing too much or not enough. Check heavy metal contamination.... far too many to list. $50 a 1/4 shouldn't scare you too much in this game. $200 bucks a year for a piece of mind is worth it to me.
