I found this growing out of my rock. Thing is, it doesn't look very Xenia-y in person...

Yeah, but don't Pom Poms pulse or move their polyps a bit?

Hmm...interesting. I was about to go buy some Xenia anyway! ;)

Looks almost identical to my pink anthelia. If that's what it is, be careful, it will grow like a weed and be almost impossible to remove if decide you don't want it later. Trust me. Lol.

Looks very similar to my pink pulsing xenia. Weird thing is when I got it as a small frag a long time ago, it never pulsed. But once it got acclimated and really started growing it took off! Now it pulses very strongly. Esp when I kill the flow for feeding time. Other than the fish and inverts its the only thing really moving in the tank.
One tip, if it is xenia and you decide to keep it, place it on its own little rock island and look out for bail outs down the road! It will grow super quick once established and take over everywhere if you are not careful.
But hey if thats what you want then go for it! Its a cool coral in my opinion.

Ehh, this is actually the remains of a serious tree--like mother colony that died off because zoas started growing inside the main stem... it was beautiful, in a way. Too bad it's gone cause I've never seen anything like it anywhere else, and the place up here that had it closed down. Never really put any thought into the species. Thanks guys.

Cloves grow fast in the right conditions. You have some of the colony left and healthy, itll come back.
