Hello

Mods, please move this post to the right board if I have posted in the wrong one....

I am setting up a new tank (nan tank; 20g AI NUVO abyss /step down).

Is it best practice to cure dry rock in a separate plastic tub/container or to cure it in the display tank. (I am not in any hurry and expect to have to cure this rock for at least 10-12 weeks, if necessary).

This is the type of dry rock I am using.

Negative! Only after rock is cured and tank cycled do you need light and even then its not necessary unless you have organisms needing light.

I would cure your rock in separate container, light is not needed. with dry rock it's mostly about cleaning off any dead organic material and letting phosphates leach out of your rock, this is easiest in done in containers. you might want to give this a read..

I am reading the article now.....thanks so much for the reply!

I chose a separate container without light so I didn’t start off with a tank full of algae covered rocks.

It is not necessary I never added lights when curing
