So does anyone know if I wanted to use marble as a base mount for tall narrow rock work if it is safe for the reef? I was thinking of using the marble base off a karate trophy, since it is white and flat so I can be hidden it in the sand easy.

I don't see why you couldn't. As far as I understand, marble trophy base is nothing more than polished stone. Be certain it is clean of any adhesives and other product from the manufacturing process and go for it.

That is what I was thinking is it should be fine as well. I thought since it is such a flat surface and is so heavy in relativity to its small size then mixed with the added sand weight on top it could be perfect to make an invisible base.!

Is is actual marble or cultured marble? The cultured stuff contains resins, pigments, acrylics, etc. I have no idea if it will leach anything undesirable, but may be something to look into. Travertine tiles would also work and are very inexpensive.

Natural but good point actually I have seen people use a piece of acrylic as well but I do not want to have it go over and uproot all my sand ir other rick if it does
