5-19 alk 8.9

Probably not for some acropora... but it might be OK for some things.

I guess that I should ask, stable enough for what?

Mine’s never stable, I try to keep it between 7.5-8.5

I say go for it. :)

I’m thinking about montipora species

reefltx do you keep sps successfully ?

You are fluctuating .2 or less a day or two that’s nothing he is fluctuating .4 or more a day. For montis I would say it would be fine

Depends on what species- you have a .6 jump in a 24 hour period. So, a hardy Montipora= yes, others maybe not so much. Other parameters also make a difference = nitrates, Po4, temp stability, lights, etc.

Lol... you’re right, but it looks wild when I look at the graph

I’m most interested in keeping bubblegum digitata

And some forest fire

I get .1 changes at the most during a 24 hour period and montipora and birdsnest are hard for me to keep colored up and or alive, but acros... No problem. I know every tank is different but come on the " hard stuff" grows and the "easy stuff" withers away.

It also depend on what parameter the corals came from, if that hardy coral came from a tank with ALK dead on stable it'll not like your tank alk swing. If you buy corals from not so stable environment and thriving then you get a lot better chance it'll thrive in yours.

Ok thanks everyone for the reply’s I need to work on getting my alk more stable

I actually have 3 systems
Tank 1
5-13 alk 7
5-14 alk 7.6
5-15 alk 7.7
5-16 alk 7.3
5-17 alk 7.7
5-18 alk 7.7
5-19 alk 7.7
5-21 alk 7

Tank 2
5-12 alk 9.3
5-13 alk 9.6
5-16 alk 10
5-17 alk 10
5-19 alk 9.6
5-20 alk 9.3

Tank 3 I posted all ready I have tons of lps and want to get into sps. How about those parameters? are those suitable for Most sps? Even acropora ?I know other things come into play and matter but I’m just taking about alk here

They look perfect, I would put anything in there

I think is very hard to keep it stable in one number. Mine jumps from 8.3 to 9 all the time and I have a doser. I lose something every now and then, but I think that has to do with my stupid nitrate that I cant keep down!

You have to take into account the amount of deviation tests have. That's why I don't test everyday because the variation changes can drive you mad. I test alk every 3 days and just make sure it is close to 8 in my system.
