Hi All,

I was on holdiay and came back yesterday, someone was feeding the fish etc when I was gone.

I noticed my Anemone moved to under a rock and I'm not sure how long it's been there for.I flipped the rock to try and get it to move but It's not looking good at the moment. Is there anything I need to do to help it?

Attaching a before and current picture.

Turn the light down and see if it comes back out. I’ve seen anemones retract and turn brown until it fixes it self or the tank problem is solved before coming back to life. In two days you should see back vibrant

How did your anemone do? I hope it got better. Did you find out what was wrong?

I am a little ate, but I think it is tank water problem. Likely the tank sitter over feed your tank and increase nutrients.
Is your tank sitter a reefer? What is your instruction to the tank sitter?

I always have specific written instructions for my tank sitter, especially if they don't have an aquarium.
1. Check this
2. Check that
3. add this specific amount
3. add this package of food, mixed in this cup with tank water, with 1 cube of frozen food, wait for it thaw out and stir it up.
Call me at ---*---*---- if there is any question or problem.

For your anemone, Test the water, nutrients, change water and hope for the best.

Hey,
I hope your anemone is doing better now. It's perfectly normal for them to move around, especially when they're feeling stressed, as they're trying to find a spot in the tank where they feel more comfortable. It's important to allow them to adjust to their new location without disturbance.

The act of flipping the rock might have inadvertently added to the stress, as it could disrupt their natural process of finding a suitable spot. While it's understandable that you're concerned, the best course of action is usually to maintain optimal tank conditions and let the anemone adjust on its own.

Remember to keep an eye on your water parameters, lighting, and water flow. These are key factors in ensuring a healthy environment for your anemone. Also, consider the feeding habits of your anemone. While they can gather food from the water and the algae in their tissues, it's often beneficial to feed them protein-rich foods like scallops, clams, shrimp, and mussels a few times a month to ensure they're receiving adequate nutrition.

Give it some time, and with the right care, your anemone should hopefully start to perk up and thrive. Good luck!
