Is my CA a concern and causing recession?

10 gal smaller tank, only softies and lps - everything seems to be thriving (my new additions are slowly acclimating and opening up more day by day)

My waterchange day is Thursday



I have one torch that started receding ~3 weeks back. I quickly placed it in lower flow area thinking it may have been the issue. Does not seem that the recession has worsened but it’s not getting better.

What are your nitrates and phosphates?

Calcium in at the bottom of where it should be. Do you dose? If not the water change will help. Whats your lighting like?

I would raise the cal to at least 400

That calcium is a bit low, but I wouldn't think that it would cause tissue recession. What salt mix do you use? What % water change do you do? Do you change water weekly? Do you have any calcium supplements you could add to the tank?

Some more info;

Nitrates at around 15
Phosphates almost undetectable
I do not dose
I do my weekly 10%/2gal water change
I currently rock the Kessil A80 at 65% for 8 hours a day. Intensity will slowly be increased once my new corals are fully acclimated.

Again, please note that this is the only coral showing sign of stress/recession. The rest are happy and fully extended.

Nitrates are a little high. Try to make it half of 15. You dont want to bring down you nitrates to fast. do you use ro/di or tap water. Salt mix?

It’s almost water change day, so some of the Nitrates will be exported with this.

Cal. 400 and try feed a little more to get some po4 lps and softy’s don’t like very clean water they like a little N/P.

My water changes replenish the minerals. I have yet to start dosing, as my numbers (beside cal) have been pretty stable and in good range with the weekly water changes.

They are many options out there. Right now I use BRS two part or ESV’s and Randy also has DIY version so it’s basically what you decide to go with.
