Hello, I added mussels to my aquarium for the first time. This is its second day and it is responding to the reactions. He looks good except for his mouth. Is this much mouth opening normal?
Also in local lfs it said maxima but I think it's crocea. Can someone with knowledge about mussels help?

It is a Crocea and it looks fine to me, not gaping. In order to qualify as gaping, the mantles needs to retract also in addition to larger than normal opening. Of course clams can look fine one day and dead the next.
A healthy clam must have good growth on shells and must be full. When they close, there is not much empty spaces inside the shell. These are two very important indicators of long term health of a clam.

Thank you for your feedback. The tips of the shell are white, which I see as a sign of growth. As far as I have observed, it has never retracted.

Not gaping Crocea. Notice fully open mantle even if the afferent opening is large.

Gaping Maxima. Notice the mantle is partially retracted and the afferent opening is large. Normal healthy clams, the opening is smaller when the mantle retracted.
