I have 2x 7 mo old Oscellaris in my tank. The (Black Oscellaris), aka ”The Bully” because he is a jerk to the smaller Orange Oscellaris, just lays on his fake anemone all day trying to move as little as possible, until feeding time, or the occasional swim chasing the smaller one away from his home. He eats enough (several pellets once a day), although the smaller one eats way way more. Otherwise, he looks like he is either sleeping or being a complete couch potato all day.

Last night, The Bully was just doing his thing, flopped on his fake anemone, and my Cleaner Shrimp came over, and literally dragged him away from his home, mounted him, and might have gotten a bite or two, until The Bully slowly and casually swam away back to the fake anemone. The shrimp did this again, until I tapped the tank and scared them both away. Was my fish in sleeping, or weak? I would think a normal response is zip away as quickly as possible, no? Out of concern, I stuck him in the acrylic box overnight and fed him this morning. The first video is before I turned on the lights, he seemed to be breathing hard laying there, but and when I turned on the lights, he seems to be swimming fine again. I let him loose and he immediately went back to his favorite spot and being a couch potato again.

Should I be concerend?

Tank: 63 L / 17gal (7 weeks old)
Fish: Introduced almost 3 weeks ago
Salinity: 1.0255
pH: 8.15
NH3/4: 0
NO2: 0
NO3: 12.5 (No matter what I do, it just likes to stay there)

The bigger clown is the female...so it would be a "she".

Honestly, I wouldn’t be too worried about it. The fact that she is eating and darted away when you tapped the glass is reassuring. Clownfish are just kinda weird sometimes. If she stops eating, though, I would make another post to get some more feedback from people with more experience than me . Best of luck!

Much Appreciated @gaki. She is eating, but not making much of an effort to leave her spot. Rather than go to the top to eat like the other who is anxiously waiting everytime, she hangs out at her spot at the bottom and just swims to catch the falling food nearby and then quickly return to her spot. She is swimming vigorously and quickly , and able to catch almost everything though, so this is a good sign, but still 98% of the time just plopped on the fake anemone and either sleeping or being the “Gold Standard” of Couch Potato.

Can you post a link to the fake anemone you bought? I have been wanting to add a fake one to my tank while I get some hair algae under control. :)

@leighla wolf I’m out in Thailand, and got it at a Fish-Market, so I don’t think it will help you much unless you want to pay for International Shipping. It’s just a silicone based fake, and they both really like it. Cost was only $4 for 2x pieces, so delivery cost was actually higher! I put some pictures below for reference. Good Luck with the algae...I’m dealing with it myself as well...

Gorgeous clowns! Thanks for sharing... the only fake news in the states don’t look as rigid (those look great) and I’m worried to put one in because that floppy ones here “melt”. :(
