Is my coral dead?

Hi I'm new to saltwater aquariums, I got my first living rock today woth a few coral on and I'm not sure if I've been sold dead coral? Thanks

That’s not dead. They do take some time to become acclimated. Why is your water so cloudy?
 
did you put it in a tank with freshwater?

Nope salt water, my salinity is 1.023 but I tested the stores water and was only 1.017

Added new sand and make the mistake of not rinsing first!!
 
Any ideas from the photos what type of coral it is?

Couple of things:
1. you need to drip acclimate, then temperature acclimate, then reef dip all corals
2. you need to have a blue (light) wavelength for your corals as the photosynthetic algae needs it to produce sugars that the coral feeds off of
3. raise your salinity to 1.026 for the best results and make sure to do it slowly as to not stress your corals/fish.


Other than that, just keep your water changes consistent and you should be fine.
