Is my coral okay

I am a second round beginner on reef tanks. Had my first one almost 20 years ago and now have a small 13.5 gallon with my teenager. I am worried about the health on my coral. I just did an 80% water change to see if that brings him back to life. He normally stands tall with all of his “feathers” extended. I apologize, I don’t even remember the name of this soft coral. I did just have to brush off a good amount of maroon algae from a nearby rock and then noticed that brownish color at the base of the coral. Is that a bad algae that has invaded the coral?

My toadstool tends to be really dramatic where sometime it gets mad when I poke around it. I'd test your water parameters to make sure they are in check and then just give it some time

The anemone is the same way, very feisty. Just never had an issue with the other coral. I should have tested the water before the change but just wanted it changed so bad I didn’t give it a second thought. Once this new water filters through a few more hours I am going to check the parameters. Thanks!

Do you have enough flow in the tank? Toadstool and leathers can droop like that if not enough flow

Hmm. I did adjust the flow not too long ago because it seemed to be too aggressive. Maybe that is part of the problem too. I noticed that he started migrating off of the little rock he came on, and onto the live rock. That’s what made me think the flow was too aggressive.

Looks like a toadstool leather.
They hate changes to water chemistry.
They hate being touched in any way.
Just let him sulk. He’ll stand.
They love flow. Just not direct.
