Hey guys, my Elegance coral has been shut for a couple of days and now has a a fun little string of something that doesn’t look very good.

Salinity: 1.26
Temp 79
Alk: 7.2
pH:
Calcium: 415
Magnesium: 1290
Nitrate: 3.2
Phosphate: 0.03

Any idea what I should expect? Dying? ticked? My alkalinity looks a little low.

Now of note my cleaner shrimp has been dancing all over this guy for the past couple of weeks. When I check after the lights go out he’s almost always perched on it. I’m hoping it’s just stressed.

Doesn't look happy. Do you direct feed it? LPS corals need nitrates at 10 and phosphate at .05 to .1. Perhaps it is slowly starving

I do direct feed, usually Mysis Shrimp. I’ll see if I can “dirty” the water up a bit to raise the levels. Thanks.

How long has it been in your tank? What other corals do you have and how are they doing? How old is this tank?

I had to move mine to a more low light area. It gets like half shade now and low light and flow now but opens big everyday. My nitrates are 16 and phosphate. 07 currently.

Thanks guys. This is the only coral. I started up in January and we’re moving to a new house in a few weeks so I haven’t added anything.

I also have not been doing daily spot feeding so I hope that is part of the issue. For what it’s worth the thing hanging off of it is gone this morning and it was open, just with retracted tentacles.

So here’s what we’re looking at now. Open but retracted tentacles and what looks like slime

They do close up at night.

Mine eats a lot. It sits in a flow where it gets feed every other day.

I would put it in a more shaded area. Mine was doing similar till I put it in the shade now it's the size of a football.
