Haven't seen him in months since the purchase today he showed up whiter than a ghost!

Are you sure that's not a molt? If not then he doesn't look good. I had one that paled out (not quite that pale) and he eventually died. :(

I thought it was a molt he has black eyes and the whitest body ever! I bought the runt they had one tiny 5 gallon tank with a bunch of emerald crabs. So just like my other animals they all have some issue I love them all and work for them to live Medicare lives. But he is so white it kind of concerns me why I asked thanks!

They need some algae to eat. They get some of their green from that. You can feed them pellets or flake with spirulina and that will help - algae flakes or pellets.

They also only seem to live a few years. I start to look for more after about 3 years. From everything that I have read, this is natural.

How is your guy doing?

As @jda said, it seems loss of color is a nutritional deficiency, and carotenoids are apparently particularly important for the color of crabs (and algae contains carotenoids). I wonder if he was stuck somewhere and wasn't getting enough to eat?

I have a red-legged hermit crab that had his front claws ripped off by an aggressor. After a month he molted but turned pale blue instead of the usually deep red. So, my target feeding kept him strong enough to molt but lacked whatever he usually picked off the rocks and I ended up with a blue crab.
