noticed a small white spot on lindsay today, and both her and lohan have been tucked away since yesterday.

my tank had a random nitrite spike (0.25) two days ago, along with .5 ammonia. i did add a serpent star and nassarius snail(which i’m pretty sure is dead) i just added more bacteria and a teaspoon of ammonia treatment after a 2g water change. Tank is 20g

is my fish sick? ich? any suggestions on what i should do from here? I don’t have a QT

I can’t see anything except for a tiny spot near the eye on the face? It may be ich but I cannot tell for sure.

it’s the one tiny spot! just wondering if i need to start any treatment asap? i can’t tell if it’s ich with just the one spot but, i haven’t noticed that there before

welcome to r2r & ....
If you have access to AmQuel or Erase-CL or AmGuard, use it immediately.

If it goes away in a few days it was probably ich. If it stays for a while, probably not. It could be flukes if the spot moves around. Let’s not throw chemicals around yet.

I’d attack the ammonia or nitrites differently with biospira or other beneficial bacteria. Will help the underlying issue. :)

thanks for the advice! i used startsmart complete since my lfs didn’t carry biospira and i needed something quick

should i add some prime? instead of the kent ammonia detox?

Perhaps, yes!

IME 90% of them don’t work well, biospira is the most reliable IME. Second best I’ve used is Dr Tim’s.

question for ya! so the fish still have the one same spot.. not super worried but, my nitrite is still at 0.25 after adding more biospira yesterday. 0% ammonia. my tank is still only a month old, do you think i should do a substantial water change and add the rest of the biospira? or let it play out? my lfs suggested i don’t do any more water changes for a while but i kind of question that. my tank just recently had an algae bloom.. like a lot of green hair on the walls and my rocks and the one snail i got was actually still alive, found while scooping some debis out of my sand- but it isn’t doing anything for the algae. just pretty lost right now
