Upgraded tanks last weekend and my neon goby has been a bit reclusive since it. Understandable, but he is definitely showing the most noticeable change in behavior.

Today he came out at dinner time and I noticed his body looked very rough. Like he had been in a fight. Attached are pics of him earlier this week and then today.

Does he have something? Do I need to try and pull him out and QT/treat?

Before photos are are the bottom. Taken Wed and Tues of this week.

Is it eating? May have a bacterial issue. Hard to tell from the pictures.

I can't say I have ever directly seen him eat a pellet in the months I've had him, but he did make an appearance at feeding time. Which is common for him to be out and about despite me never seeing him actually grab something from the water column. He is usually hiding under my RFA rock now but came out from under.

does it look like a powdery coat on him? marine velvet or ick?
I guess I have a hard time describing it as 'powdery'... a couple days ago the black on his body was just black. Now the black areas have patches that look like.. something.. is on his scales or discoloring them to be grey/whitish? But it doesn't seem like his yellow stripe has that. Perhaps it's just harder to see against the yellow?

His breathing seems to be more labored/intense. Sorry it is hard to see when he's usually hiding now and has such a small body, having never seen marine velvet/ick before in the flesh I'm having a hard time distinguishing things.

is that the only fish in the tank. How long have you had the fish?
No there are 2 clowns, lawnmower blenny, royal gramma, watchman goby and a red/white trimma goby.

He's the only one who looks/acts off though the gramma has taken to sitting/hovering upside down since the move.

I've had him for probably 5 months?

Im thinking it s marine velvet...but that would mean the other fish would look like they were coated with sugar. Thats all I can go by with the photos given.

That was my worry was velvet but the other fish look totally fine. Specifically the clowns since they also have black so I'd think it'd be easy to see on them.

I am wondering if he got into a tussle with another fish or landed on an anemone and got himself stung?
