Is my hammer dead?

Hey guys is my hammer dead? I went away for a week and had someone caring for the aquarium and it appears that my damsel fish (velvets) had a field day…I quickly removed the damselfish and now am left with this sad sight, horrible first time lesson but a lesson learned no the less…
