Newbie here, especially for coral. I purchased this hammer coral 2 days ago. He’s certainly opening up, I’m just not sure it it’s fully open. I haven’t putty’d it yet but not sure if I should or if I should try to find it a new location. Some of the polyps extend much further but and thin and straggly looking. Location is about mid tank with moderate flow. Parameters are in check.

It looks fine atm. I'd leave it and allow it to adjust. Tentacle length can vary for sure.

Looks fine. One of mine is super moody. If anything touches it, it will retract and stay that way for a day or two simply out of annoyance. My other one stays happy moat of the time.

Also the longer thinner tentacles could be sweepers. So it might be getting deffinsive and trying to take out something.

Thanks guys. I’ll let him be for a few more days before I do anything.
Yeah the algae is a weird one. I was using stock lights on my 6 bulb T5 fixture and I had this lime green algae start on my rocks. But it can’t be scraped off and my CUC doesn’t eat it. So I switched my bulbs to ATI a couple days ago and the algae went from lime green to a more brownish. Not sure what it is but I’m just attributing it to starting with dead rock and being part of the ugly phase. Nitrates are at 5 and Phosphate is at .05 so it shouldn’t be a nutrient thing. I am carbon dosing so maybe that has something to do with it? I don’t know
