Last week one of my red leg hermits moved to a much bigger shell which was probably to big for him!

he’s been sat in a corner for about 4 days only moving slightly

I just noticed this in front of the shell

I removed it assuming he’s died but when I picked the shell out I can still see legs inside?

I do have another red leg who I suppose could now be in the shell but I don’t know.

I would bet that he just molted. Hermits molt and it looks exactly like their real bodies. I have red legs that molt almost every time they move to a new shell too.
I typically leave their molts in the tank as they will eat them. Kinda gross but that’s what your CUC is for. :)

Ah, and just to add - assuming he’s still alive, you’ll be amazed how quickly they grow into their new shells that seem way too big for them. Fun to watch over time!

They molt, it’s probably the shed.. but if you moved it around it might die anyways theyre really sensitive to being disturbed while molting
I did think it might be that, hopefully it will survive I put it down as soon as I seen the legs

That’s good to know, I’m new to all this so still learning!
I hope he will be okay as they are my favourite
