Hey so been going for a few months now, tank has been going fallow and algae growth has seemed to coat the Rocks, only its directly where the lights hit and no other places does any algae grow. What am I missing? I assume those areas just recieve uneven lighting but how do I position my lights properly to achieve even coverage? I have 2 kessil A160WE mounted over a Nuvo 30l at 8 inches high... already at that height those seem to spill over. The only way I can get them to not is to mount them at 4 inches above, but then there is no room and the shadowed areas just become more shadowed. I'm just looking for general ideas. I have no idea how to correct it, just looks strange

What you are seeing is normal and is a result of the spotlight like effect that smaller form lights have. It is not necessarily a problem and as your tank/rock matures the general color will even out some. The only way to reduce the shadowing is to add more broad dispersed light, think T5/led strip or even add multiple pendants, but like i said what you are seeing is normal. Depending on what your future plans are you could be just fine with the lighting you have now.
