Is my midas blenny guarding eggs?

Well, I lost all the larvae. . But I improved the larval tank for next spawn. Airstone bubbles are definitely out! Even with very reduced output the tiny bubbles beat the larvae up! I increased water movement instead. Well see what happens?

Well, still struggling with raising Midas Blenny Larvae. Losing all in 1st 48 hrs. Gonna try smaller s-type.

Well, I am receiving a culture of smaller s-type rotifers from reed mariculture today. I will get them to multiply and should be ready for next hatch. I had a huge hatch on Monday night and collected the larvae, but nothing to feed them.

How did you pair them up? Did you introduce 2 at the same time or one after another?
I'm trying to find a friend for my midas but cant find any information on sex. Is it possible to take a photo of both your midas for comparison?
Also have you tried using a red light to see if they mate like mandarins do? They may be meeting up at night for some fun!:kiss:

Wow that's a great feat. Never heard of midas blennies breeding in captivity.. Good job so far on your advancements wishing you the best of luck. This could lead to some great advancements of the breed in the future. I know Ora has a few blennies they hatch along with other breeders. Good job on the persistence..

They are spawning every 7-10 days. Sometimes 2 clutches are laid side by side 2 days apart.

What / how do u feed ur Midas??
I'm feeding mysis and flakes separately throughout day but Midas looks skinny I'm know they need too eat a few times a day is 2 not enough??

I feed my fish 2 frozen cubes of mysis and 2 frozen cubes of brine shrimp every evening. For about 12 fishes which include 3 large tangs. In addition, every morning I hang a tightly rolled "cigar" made up of 1 sheet app 6"x8" of nori seaweed filled in with flakes and small pellets. Sometimes I add app10 drops of garlic solution. Wetting the algae sheet a little helps in wrapping tightly and prevents tearing of the sheet. I rubber band this tightly to a small rock and hang it "piñata" style in open water area. The key is to wrap tightly. All the fish pick at this all day while preventing uneaten food from dispersing. Occasionally, I give them a portion of live brine shrimp. All my fish look healthy and pose nice bellies. Hope this helps.
