This is my first mushroom and I have never seen one split before.
Is my mushroom splitting?

Normally it looks like a booger from the base that sprouts off not from the top. I am by no means a mushroom expert I only have 4 different types of mushrooms but all of them split at the base/stem of it and it slowly moves away from under the umbrella of the top.

When mine split I was fortunate to see when it happened and mine sort of contorted into a sort of hot air balloon shape. Your mushroom doesn't look like its splitting and more than likely it's just the flow in your tank that makes it look like that. But if you notice that it starts moving then you might notice it going through Pedolaceration.
